This month, La marche des Ours launched a project in collaboration with the Old Brewery Mission. Their objective is to collect coats and boots that will help many of our city’s homeless citizens get through the harsh winter. In order to achieve this, they have released a schedule with drop-off points and have organised to pick up donations by vehicle from people’s homes. They call the project Le Défi des Ours.
At the end of the collection period, the organisers and members of the community gathered at Berri-UQAM metro station and walked to the Old Brewery Mission’s Webster Pavillion and donated the items in-person.
An impressive 234 coats, 13 snow pants and 17 pairs of boots were collected for the Mission. The determined participants walked in the rain to show their dedication to helping the homeless. Thank you to all who took part in the challenge!
