Last May, we announced the nomination of our recently renovated Saint-Laurent Campus cafeteria for a prestigious AZ Award. The results are in! We are honored to announce that our cafeteria, designed by the architectural firm ARCHITEM Wolff Shapiro Kukowski, won the People’s Choice Award in the Social Good category.
Our recent cafeteria, café and kitchen renovations offer a bright and contemporary space where clients can relax and enjoy a meal or a coffee, helping to foster an environment of dignity and respect for the homeless men and women who frequent the Mission. “It’s about how people inhabit the space and are influenced by it,” explains Andrea Wolff, partner at Architem. “We wanted to facilitate movement between the café and cafeteria, and brighten it up with storefront windows to let the natural daylight in, to create a sense of openness, optimism, and essentially breaking down barriers.”
Azure Magazine’s AZ awards recognize leading work in global architecture and design. Winners of the People’s Choice Awards are determined by the number of votes cast by the public on their website.
The Old Brewery Mission would like to thank all those who took the time to vote for our project and for helping to promote the Mission on an international scale. You truly made a difference!
Special thanks to Andrea Wolff for creating and executing her refined, contemporary design.
