15 Much Needed Items You Might Not Think of Donating this Season

22 December 2020

Year after year, in addition to monetary donations, we always need warm, clean clothing in good condition, non-perishables and unopened hygiene products. But sometimes, some essential articles are really missing that the greater public wouldn’t necessarily think of giving.  So, we have various and unexpected suggestions for you. Here they are, starting with the most needed items:

  1. Bus and metro tickets (STM)

  2. Laundry detergent (pods)

  3. Disposable razors (new, unopened)

  4. Lock (new, combination or with key)

  5. Hairbrush and deodorant (for women)

  6. Travel size hand sanitizer, toothpaste, shampoo and shaving cream

  7. Soft, compact carrying bags

  8. Ear plugs (to cut out noise in sleeping quarters at night)

  1. Socks and underwear (new and unused, for men and women)

  2. Pyjamas and sweatpants (men and women)

  3. Face masks

  4. Chewing gum, breath mints

  5. Board games in good condition

  6. Gift cards (local coffee shops, fast food and grocery stores)

  7. Fresh fruit, cheese and poultry stock (preferably canned or boxed, not dehydrated) for our food service

The Old Brewery Mission kindly asks people to limit their in-kind donations to this list during the winter season. It is also recommended to label the donated items to help indicate the type of donation and, in the case of multiple donations, to attach a list of the contents of the box or bag to help redirect them to the appropriate service.

To make an in-kind donation, please contact Christopher Quinn, Director of Support Services by e-mail at cquinn@missionoldbrewery.ca or by phone at 514 798-2244, extension 247. Please do not hesitate to leave a message in the voice mailbox if you do not get an answer. We will call you back as soon as possible.

You can also drop your donations off, day or night, at the reception at 915 Clark Street. Donors are encouraged to follow health measures to ensure the protection of staff and clients.

If you’d like to help but are unable to give in-kind, you can also help fund our programs and services by making a quick and secure online donation.
