MONTREAL, October 13, 2022 — The Old Brewery Mission is pleased to announce the appointment of Louis Audet as Chair of the Board of Directors. Mr. Audet was President and CEO of Cogeco from 1993 to 2018 and is currently Chair of the Board of Cogeco. Under his leadership, Cogeco has become a leading Canadian telecommunications company with North America-wide operations.
Mr. Audet is a long-time supporter of the Mission who chaired the Old Brewery Mission Foundation’s major fundraising campaign from 2014 to 2020 and has helped raise awareness of homelessness in Quebec’s business community. He has been a member of the Old Brewery Mission’s Board since June 2019.
“It is an honour to have Mr. Audet’s leadership on our Board of Directors,” said James Hughes, President and CEO of the Old Brewery Mission. “His commitment to improving the lot of the most vulnerable in our society and his dedication to the success of our initiatives will be valuable assets.”
“It is a privilege to chair a Board of Directors made up of high-calibre volunteers who have helped build the Mission into a Canadian pacesetter over the years,” said Mr. Audet.
Mr. Audet succeeds Eric Maldoff, who was elected to the Board in 2005 and served as Chair from 2007 to 2022. “Mr. Maldoff made a giant contribution,” said James Hughes. “Under his leadership, the Mission made a major shift and embraced the goal of eradicating homelessness, particularly by focusing on access to housing for people experiencing homelessness. He is stepping down as Chair but we are pleased that he is staying with us as a director.”
