Jacinthe Corbin, Director of Housing Support Services.

Can you tell us about your role at the Old Brewery Mission and the kinds of responsibilities that come with it?

As the Director of Housing Support Services, I am responsible for the development, consolidation, and evolution of services aimed at residential stabilization for people in situations of homelessness or at risk of homelessness. My role covers project development, service growth management, partnerships, and team management and support.

At the heart of my priorities are the quality of the services offered to users, the welfare of the teams, and the development of solid, human practices adapted to the situation on the ground. Having myself started as a counsellor, it is very important to me that these strategic decisions remain anchored in the lived experience of the teams and the people they support.

Can you tell us about the kind of work you were doing before you came here?

After a career reorientation in my mid-twenties, following an initial career in hairdressing, I started working in the community sector helping women. I joined the Old Brewery Mission in December 2014 as a night counsellor. Over the years, I had different roles in intervention, supervision, and coordination, especially in services to women and housing support services, before gradually accessing management positions.

This progression, built from the ground up, today informs my vision, my leadership, and my deep understanding of homelessness and housing-related issues. It has enabled me to develop innovative projects and partnerships to improve the quality of life of the people we support.

What brought you to Old Brewery Mission?

The Old Brewery Mission attracted me with the diversity and complementarity of its service offer, with its values, and with the professional development possibilities it offers. For me, joining the organization represented an opportunity to learn, broaden my horizons, and work with a varied clientele.

Beyond the professional challenge, it was also a strong personal alignment, specifically the desire to meaningfully contribute to an organization recognized for its commitment and social impact.

How would you describe the Old Brewery Mission to someone who doesn’t know anything about it?

The Old Brewery Mission is an organization that is deeply committed to promoting the dignity of people in situations of homelessness, by placing housing and support at the heart of its actions. It offers a complete service trajectory, covering prevention, emergency services, and rehousing, and offers a varied range of housing solutions adapted to each person’s needs. The organization knows how to adapt to emerging needs while maintaining a human and rigorous approach.

Thanks to solid partnerships and an ambitious vision, the Mission acts proactively to help break the cycle of homelessness and offer sustainable solutions, rooted in respect and the quality of its support.

Has anything left a really lasting impression on you since you started working at the Old Brewery Mission?

What has struck me the most is the dedication of the teams toward their clients and their constant willingness to offer high-quality services. I admire their commitment and the way the organization innovates to create sustainable solutions, so that each person has access to a roof over their head and high-quality support.
